Bites Of The Apple

This morning Megan and I went to eat at Primehouse . It is actually a steakhouse, but they also serve really delicious brunch.

I know that steakhouse portions can often be out of control at dinner, but I figured that this wouldn’t be the case for brunch.

Apparently I was wrong! I got the cinnamon raisin french toast.

It was really good but actually ended up being a little too sweet for me. Don’t worry though, I didn’t let that stop me from eating over half of it.

I mentioned at the end of my post yesterday that I attended a pretty great event on Saturday afternoon. It was called Meet the Breeds – “the world’s largest showcase of cats & dogs.”

I absolutely LOVE dogs, so I was really excited to go.

My family pet was a bichon frise named Pippi (I loved Pippi Longstocking). She lived for sixteen wonderful years. We had to put her down a little over a year and a half ago, on Valentine’s Day. It was pretty brutal, and I still miss her terribly.

I truly cannot wait until I can get a dog, so Chris came up with a great idea to go to this showcase and see what dog would be a nice fit for us in the future (hopefully within 2 years!). It was so much fun meeting the different dogs and breeders. It was great opportunity to ask questions and see dogs that I had never even heard of before.

Here’s a bit of what we encountered…

Sleepy Dogs

The event started at 9am, and we didn’t get there until 2pm. I think they were a little tuckered out from all the visitors and petting. It’s tough being loved.

My Three Favorites

I had actually never really seen the first two in person. They were adorable. The Dogue de Bordeaux was having a little break in his cage. I actually didn’t seem in there at first! Adorable.

And finally… my favorite dog of all time. I want one so badly! He’s a big one!

I couldn’t get a great picture because he kept moving around, but they are really incredibly sweet dogs. And to top it all off – they are great swimmers, which is something that I value since I’m a little swimming challenged.

I know that this was pretty off-topic from health and fitness, but who doesn’t love dogs?!

Back to today. After brunch, I did a little laundry and got a manicure/pedicure with Megan. I was due for a 3 mile run today and planned on going during the afternoon, but this got in the way…

Megan asked me to put on my game face. I’m pretty sure that the “intensity” shown here is more than the Eagles’ defense showed on the field. Yup – it was that bad.

The Eagles had a 4pm game and there just wasn’t enough time to go to the gym and get to the bar for the start of the game. Since I’m clearly not in a Philly market, I almost always have to watch their games at a bar.

It was supposed to be an easy game. The Eagles (3-1) were playing the Raiders (1-4) in Oakland.

It should have been a done deal. Unfortunately, in the world of football, it doesn’t always work out that way. They lost 13-9. An Eagles loss has been known to ruin my entire day in the past; however, this game was so absurd that I quickly moved from the point of anger to complete and utter bewilderment. I was more perplexed than pissed, and thankfully, I was able to take out my frustration at the gym.

I did 3 miles in 26:52 (average pace: 8:57).

I ended my night with a couple slices of delicious pizza from one of my faves – Pizza 33 and the newest episode of Mad Men. Now it’s time to get ready for the start of the week.

Have a good night!
